Welcome to the First United Methodist Church

Thank you for visiting our website.  Why not grab a snack, relax and read about the purpose and ministries of First United Methodist Church in Elkin, NC?

The Head of the Church invites us all: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."  Of Jesus' many wonderful invitations, this is one of my favorite.  I often feel "weary and burdened."

Being a Christian is not about being part of a religion.  It is about a relationship.  THE ULTIMATE PURPOSE FOR WHICH WE WERE CREATED IS TO LIVE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

And it is such a blessing to know there is One who loves me unconditionally? One who understands what it feels like to be "weary and burdened"? One who transcends my own little world? One who offers me a strong sense of purpose? and this One is personally knowable.

How is this relationship possible?  God came to earth and revealed Himself to us in a way we can relate - as one of us!  In fact, the great day of Christmas is all about God coming to us in human form in the person of Jesus Christ.  He lived a perfectly pure life on Earth for 33 years.  At this age, Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice on behalf of each of us.  On that first Easter, He rose from death.  Because He lives, we can have a spiritual relationship with Him.  To know Jesus is to know God.

Does somethign have you weary and burdend? Some thing from your past? something going on in the present? something you dread about the future?  A relationship with God may not erase this issue, but a relationship with God will:

                                                           1) provide forgiveness for what is past

                                                          2) provide comfort for what is present

                                                          3) provide security for what is future.

I invite you to share with us as we seek to REACH, TEACH and UNLEASH people for Christ!
